Several months ago I wrote a post about why I fly with car seats. If you missed it, you can go back and read it here. My overall point of the post is that I like to take car seats on airplanes for several reasons. Although one of my biggest reasons is for safety, it was really more of an opinion. My post was very assumptive (I mean, why wouldn’t kids be safer in car seats?), but it lacked actual scientific confirmation.

After writing that post, I had several people send me the link to an article by Peanut Mom. It’s a research based write up on the necessity of putting your children in car seats on an airplane. I’m not going to lie, it’s a sobering read. I really thought long and hard about sharing it. In fact, I decided against it at the time. But recently I stumbled across it a few times on social media and there seems to be quite a wide range of opinions. So I decided to go ahead and post it and let you decide.

Here is a link to the article- Why I’ll Always Buy An Extra Seat.

So what do you think? After reading this article, would you PAY for an extra seat on a plane to insure you could bring a car seat for your child under 2?

For the record, I am SO thankful my children are 4 and 8 and I no longer have to debate paying for a seat (in case you aren’t familiar, children under 2 are not required to have a ticket/seat to fly.)
