Disney Resort- Shades of Green

Perhaps one of Disney’s best kept secrets (though, for the life of me, I don’t know why!) is the resort dedicated to U.S. Armed Forces and their families.

Shades of Green is the only Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) in the Continental United States.

The resort is operated by the US Army and is reserved for all branches of the military and their families.

The resort provides service members and their families with relaxing, beautiful accommodations on the Disney property. Guests are treated to special dining options, tax-free, discounted room rates, and an array of other discounts and special amenities.

According to their website, Shades of Green has “583 rooms that can sleep up to 5 people and includes a Wounded Warrior Suite and 23 ADA rooms.” Additionally, “the rooms and hallways are the most spacious on Walt Disney World property” including oversized elevators, special transportation options and multiple ramps.

As you might expect, the resort has a military theme complete with many tributes to those who serve.

Not a detail has escaped the theme!

For example: check-in time is “anytime after 1500” and check-out time is “prior to 1100.” The motto of the resort is “we take pride in serving those who serve.”

Eligibility and rates are very strict based on service, but can be found listed on their website. As with most of the other Walt Disney World properties, there are special deals available often. Be sure to check out the Shades of Green website for more information and to book your vacation.

Mom With a Map would personally like to thank all those who have served, are currently serving, and those who plan to serve in the future!
