2024 Solar Eclipse – Let The Countdown Begin!

It’s hard to believe, but the highly anticipated Great American Eclipse has come and gone.

In the days leading up to the big event, I saw a wide variety of opinions, theories and cautions. Everything from rapture speculation to terrorism potential to hurricane-style evacuations trickled through the media. On top of that, every NASA scientist and optometrist weighed in on the inevitable damage that would strike everyone’s eyes.

Now that it’s over, I think we can all take a big collective deep breath. It seems the Solar Eclipse came and went without any major hiccups. (Though, I’m sure there are still optometrists waiting for an onslaught of patients in the upcoming weeks!)

So now that it’s over, who’s already ready for the 2024 Solar Eclipse?

I know I am! And so are my kiddos!

Having lived through this recent moment in history, I can say with certainty that we’ll plan to travel to the line of totality for the 2024 solar eclipse which will happen on April 8th.

Unlike the recent phenomenon that only crossed the US and traveled from the Northwest to the Southeast, the next one will occur from Mexico up through the Northeast. Big US cities in the path of the 2024 Solar Eclipse are: Killeen, TX; Dallas, TX; Hot Springs, AK; Poplar Bluff, MO; Bloomington, IN; Cleveland, OH; and Buffalo, NY.

I’d say if current excitement is any prediction, A TON of people will flock to that line of totality. Our family is planning to plan (I’m so Type A…planning to plan!) way ahead this time and book a whole vacation around the 2024 Solar Eclipse. Our idea will be to avoid the large crowds of people traveling on or around April 8th. We followed several people for the recent eclipse who chose to stay at campgrounds as to not be on the road or pay extremely high hotel rates. That sounds like a pretty good plan! (Perhaps I’ve just been super inspired by Allyson’s recent guest posts: Extended Camping With Kids.)

Either way- our family is IN for the 2024 solar eclipse!

Let me end by promising, this is the last time I’ll write the words “solar eclipse” for at least 6 years!
