Stress-Free Disney Planning Tips

Guest post from Laurence Brown, Travel Consultant specializing in Disney Vacations

I remember taking a trip to Disney when I was younger.

I still have the pictures of myself with Mickey, Donald, Pluto and other characters.  I also remember being able to run down the characters, grab a quick photo, and then find an attraction I wanted to ride.  There was no Disney planning, no reservations, no fast passes, no standing in line…

But things have changed.

Disney planning can be a lot of fun, but it can also be overwhelming, especially for first timers.  First timers don’t often realize that unlike most destination vacations, you will need to plan in advance to receive the magical vacation that Disney can provide.

Even repeat visitors often miss out on everything that Disney can offer.

As a Travel Consultant that specializes in Disney vacations, it’s my job to help you plan your trip.  Even the best of planners, though, are limited in how they can help if the client doesn’t begin planning in advance. So, where do you begin?  That’s where this post comes in.

Here are a few things you should begin thinking about to make your Disney planning stress-free:

When To Visit

The first step is to decide when to visit.  Disney offers some amazing events, such as the Food and Wine Festival, the Flower and Garden Festival, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.  The summers can be hot in Florida, but this is also prime pool weather, and Disney’s resorts have some amazing pools.  Do you have a flexible schedule?  Traveling to Disney World in May, August, September, or February can be less expensive and crowd levels will be lower.

Where To Stay

Once the decision of when to go has been made, the next step is where to stay?  There are so many amazing Disney resorts to choose from.  Convenience, early access to FastPass selections, extra magic hours at the parks, and free transportation to and from the airport are just some of the benefits to staying at a Disney Resort.

Vacation Length

The next step is deciding how long you should stay.  At the very least, I recommend a vacation of at least 4 days, with 6-7 being a more optimum stay. There is so much to do and experience at Disney World.  6 or 7 days also allows you time to spend at the pools, visit Disney Springs, or feel less stressed about doing everything you want to do.

Tickets

Part of your vacation package will include tickets.  The two main options are choosing a park per day or park hopper option.   The 1 park per day ticket allows you to enjoy admission to one theme park per day for each day of your ticket.  The Park Hopper Option allows you to visit multiple theme parks on the same day for each day of your ticket.  This option gives you much more flexibility to your vacation.

Dining

You’ve decided when you’re going, where you’re staying, and how long you will be at Disney World.  At 180 days out from your vacation, you can begin making dining reservations.  With more than 100 dining options, Disney offers so many magical dining experiences. Reservations at some restaurants can be very hard to find, so making advance reservations is highly recommended.

Fastpass

Disney’s FastPass system allows you to make three reservations for attractions or shows per day.  Selecting FastPasses in advance can help you avoid hour plus long wait times.

The best way to do Disney is the way that works best for you and your family.

Using a travel agent that specializes in Disney planning is very important.
