Los Angeles is a big, exciting city with tons to do. However, it doesn’t always get a family-friendly reputation.
Don’t be discouraged from visiting with your kids, because truly there are many activities that will interest the whole family. Similar to Washington DC, Las Vegas or even New York City- there are plenty of things to keep you busy!
Simply driving down the road provides some breathtaking scenery, so imagine what it would be like getting out of the car to explore what LA has to offer.
Here are 5 things to consider adding to your Los Angeles Area Itinerary:
Hike To The Hollywood Sign
Hollywood is practically the essence of Los Angeles and seeing the sign is a must-do iconic activity. Hiking to the Hollywood sign has been a thing since… further back than most people can remember. It’s a fun pastime to be enjoyed just about anyone. Located in Los Angeles, the sign is accessible to both individuals and groups led by guides. Though you may have to pay some money for a guided tour, you’ll get to know a lot more about the iconic attraction known as the Hollywood Sign.
Visit Disney Land
You’d be hard pressed to come to LA without visiting Disney Land- especially if you are traveling with kids! A lot of adults will equally attest to enjoying their time there thoroughly, so it really is a win-win situation. Tickets can be very pricy, so you’ll want to make sure to do your research on finding the most affordable ticket. Here’s one of the best guides I’ve found for purchasing tickets.
Spend An Afternoon At Long Beach
In the south of the metropolitan region, Long Beach meets a quite pleasant, if not contemplative district on the Pacific coast. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon and you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from the downtown of Los Angeles. In addition to a very nice aquarium, you will also want to check out the Queen Mary, an old cruise ship in Art Deco style (think of the Titanic!)
Get Some Sun In Santa Monica
North of Venice you will find Santa Monica. Here you will find one of the most popular beaches in the city (which is also wonderfully long), as well as the famous Santa Monica Pier, known from film and television. The pier is also a surprisingly beautiful shopping area.
Visit A Danish Town
Yes, you heard right, a Danish town smack in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley. Just two hours away from, Los Angeles, the Solvang is a quaint little getaway with things you’ll consider to be smaller pleasures in life. Indulge in a little chocolate, visit the wineries and sample some of the pastries the Danish are so famous for.
What other family-friendly activities do you recommend in the Los Angeles Area?
