Several years ago I planned our first family trip to Wisconsin.
As always, I did quite a bit of research prior to our trip. Knowing this would be a new state for our family, I wanted to make it memorable. After much googling I came to the conclusion that there are really only three or four major family attractions in Wisconsin. Please hear me, I don’t actually believe that to be true. However, finding more family friendly activities specific to Wisconsin took a little effort.
After deciding we’d tour Green Bay (we HAD to see Lambeau Field), The Dells, and Lake Geneva, our list of family activities still came up short. I began asking around and finally stumbled on some great information.
Jelly Belly has a factory in Pleasant Prairie!
And they give factory tours! Better yet, they have a whole sample bar of every flavor imaginable in the factory gift shop.
This was the kind of memorable, family activity I was looking for when I began planning our trip. And I have to say, we absolutely loved everything about the tour!
The tour includes a free 25-30 minute train ride throughout the warehouse. Pictures were prohibited, but I did manage to get this one prior to the start.
We enjoyed seeing the various products, and learning the history behind the candy. Additionally, we were able to see behind the scenes of their packaging and distribution. There were also lots of fun facts to learn. Our favorite- President Ronald Reagan requested Jelly Belly beans be served in the Oval office and aboard Air Force One.
In addition to the factory tour, we enjoyed exploring the candy store.
The Jelly Belly visitors center is open most days from 9AM to 5PM CT. Visit their website for further details, directions and a list of upcoming events.
