A Visit To Lawton Stables- Hilton Head Island, SC

Last week on Hilton Head Island we visited Lawton Stables.

The Island is one of our top vacation destinations and I’m always looking for new activities to try. My daughter- in particular- has a love for horses and has always wanted to go on a trail ride. I can say, without a doubt, this experience ended up being the highlight of her vacation!

The thing I love most about Lawton Stables is the family-friendly atmosphere. Each of the staff members took time to welcome my children and help them feel comfortable. Although my son (age 5) was not old enough to go on a trail ride, he could still have the experience of riding a horse. He loved the staff led pony ride! It was just thrilling enough to be age appropriate and fun for him.

Miller felt like such a big boy on his pony ride!

My daughter and I went on the hour-long trail ride through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve. Despite never having done anything like it, my daughter was a pro. The staff did such a great job making her feel experienced and special. They praised her abilities and boosted her confidence.

Mary Grace and her sweet horse, Corona.

On the other hand, I am a little bit of a nervous horse rider. The staff was super patient and encouraging. I felt completely comfortable and safe the whole time. Our trail guides were reassuring and close at hand to answer questions.

Our ride around the Forest Preserve was gorgeous.

It was neat to experience a different side of the Island than the beach. We particularly loved riding around alligator lake and spotting a few. I am already looking forward to a trail ride the next time we visit Hilton Head!

We loved our horses Daisy and Corona!

In addition to the trail and pony rides, Lawton Stables offers an animal farm and gift shop. My children loved observing and feeding the animals.

I highly recommend Lawton Stables to anyone visiting Hilton Head Island. It’s a great family activity! For more information and to schedule your trip, visit their website.
