Planning Your Vacation Makes It So Much Better by Mom With A Map Staff Writer
I know. With all the crazy travel things 2020 brought- you are a little out of practice at planning your vacation!
Now is a great time to start thinking about the next time that you get jet off somewhere and have the time of your life. Some people like to just go where the wind takes them and see how it goes once they get there.
However, that does work out for everyone. Or even for most people!
On the whole, having a planned vacation makes the whole experience that much better. This is because there isn’t any uncertainty surrounding the vacation.
In this article, we’re going to be looking at some of the things that you need for planning your vacation.
Where Will Your Travels Take You?
The first thing that you need to decide is where you’re going to be going. Sure, it could be fun to just go to the airport and get on whatever the next flight is to an unknown destination. (Has anyone actually ever done that?)
But, when you know where you are going, you are able to plan a little more and get excited for the trip. You should sit down with the people you are planning to travel with, and see if everyone can come up with some kind of idea as to where they want to go.
At the end, you can take a vote if you’ve got enough options but no solution so that the most popular choice becomes your destination.
What are your ideal vacation accommodations?
Another thing that you’re going to need to think about is where you are going to be staying. One thing that you don’t want is to assume that all of the hotels are going to have last minute space for you. If you are in a popular tourist area especially, this is likely not going to be the case.
Instead, you need to look online, and find out what the best hotels are in the area. Or, you can look at something like cabins, AirBNB or VRBO if you have a larger travel party and require a bigger space.
Make sure to be thorough in your research though because you don’t want to end up somewhere not what you expected. Reading reviews on Yelp is a great way to get an idea of what to expect.
What Is Your Vacation Budget?
Something else that you need to plan is your budget for the entire trip. This is going to need to include flights, accommodation, food, anything in the airport, spending money and money to do things while you are over there.
Vacations can really add up, so knowing exactly how much you have to spend could be invaluable. Sort out the flights, accommodation and food if you can before anything else as this tells you what you have left.
With the rest of the money, you should go through and divide it equally between the number of days that you are staying there. Once you have done this, you’ve got your spending and fun budget right there. If you have some money left over on one day, it can roll to the next and so on.
What types of activities do you want to plan for your vacation?
Finally, if you plan your vacation, then you have time to do some research on the area and see what is there. You can look at what museums they have, if they have any memorials, if they have any theme parks or whatever else you think that you would want to do.
This is one of the best parts about planning: the anticipation. You can’t wait because you are super excited to see the things that you have been looking forward to.
This is much better than not knowing where you are going or what you are doing and walking around aimlessly all day. Doing this is a huge waste of your vacation and will make you wish you had planned better while you were at home.
If you do these things, then you will be heading off on a well-planned adventure, being sure that nothing is going to go wrong or get in your way of having a good time.
