Do you want to travel and see some of the rarest species in the world?
Maybe you just want to embark on an African safari so you can see wildlife up close and personal? If you want to make the most out of your wildlife travel experience, then this guide will help you.
Be Silent
Animals are easily disturbed, and they may go into hiding if they hear too much noise. Even if you get excited at the prospect of seeing an animal, you still need to talk in a low tone and you need to avoid shouting. Silence is one of the best ways for you to encourage animals to come out, so be mindful of this.
Don’t Disembark from the Vehicle
If you are going on a wildlife safari, then you will not be allowed to disembark from the vehicle. If you do then you don’t just put yourself at risk, you put everyone in danger. If you want to see animals closer, then ask the driver to see if they can move the vehicle up a bit. Most of the time, however, vehicle drivers are respectful of wildlife, and will not want to disturb them. Sometimes you will be permitted to disembark from the vehicle if it is safe to do so.
Don’t Wear Perfume
A lot of travelers want to smell great when they are on the go, and this is understandable. That being said, you have to make sure that you do not wear any strong perfume or deodorant. If you do then you may end up scaring animals away, which is the last thing you want if you are going on a wildlife safari.
Plan a Photo Tour
If you want to get some great snaps of animals, then why not go on a photo tour? Planning a photo tour is a great way for you to see animals up close and personal. You will ideally want to go with a local guide or even a naturalist as they can help you to find the best spots. You can also search online for organizations that conduct photography tours in wildlife reserves or national parks. Just remember that no flash photography is allowed when photographing animals. Flash may disturb animals, causing them to react to it. If you want to photograph rare species, then why not visit the Galapagos Islands?
Be Season-Specific
You need to understand that wildlife travel is very season-specific. As a tourist, you are not allowed within a sanctuary at all times. They are open at certain points during the year. If you want to travel to a particular location, then it is wise to see if it is open during that time. If it’s not, then you may need to make other arrangements. Forest areas are also prone to climate change. If you are going to a forest area, then you will need to pack for that. Showers can occur at any time, and you don’t want to be stuck not being able to go where you want because you don’t have the right attire.
These are some of the great ways to make the most of your wildlife travel experience!
